About the event
Description:
This course provides students with the tools and knowledge necessary to work with the geriatric population in the water. Aspects such as precautions and contraindications specific to the geriatric population are discussed in order to create a safe environment in the pool. Aquatic activities and tasks for elderly patients are discussed. Students learn to justify and validate why aquatic therapy is an ideal treatment for patients with ambulatory difficulties, ataxia, lack of coordination, proprioception deficits, respiratory complications, risk of falls, among others.
Target Audience - PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, SLPs, and other aquatic professionals, such as adapted aquatics professionals and recreational therapists.
ATU Seminars provide 16 contact hours or 1.6 CCUs or their CEU equivalent as follows
