About the event
This course offers students the necessary tools and knowledge to work with the geriatric population in the water. Aspects such as precautions and contraindications specific to the geriatric population are discussed to create a safe environment in the pool. Aquatic activities and tasks for elderly patients are discussed. Students learn to justify and validate why aquatic therapy is an ideal treatment for patients with ambulatory difficulties, ataxia, lack of coordination, proprioception deficits, respiratory complications, risk of falls, among others.
Time Commitment: 16 hours; includes written and practical exam
